The Night Market (Restaurant Review)

Reflection:

The restaurant review project was quite an enjoyable assignment as I was able to meet up with friends and have tasteful food simultaneously. Doing the assignment was probably the first time I left home for weeks due to the coronavirus. The actual writing of the review wasn’t difficult, as I had a clear idea of how I liked the meal and the overall experience. Both doing and writing this assignment was memorable, as I could still remember the pleasing aura and satisfaction I received from The Night Market.

  1. I just wanted to start off by saying that I was genuinely impressed by your graphic design skills. I really liked how you started your review by telling your readers to picture a scenario in their heads; I think this was a very effective hook and also established yourself as a restaurant reviewer that your audience can definitely relate to! I also appreciated your creative description of the restaurant’s interior design; bringing up “Asia in the 1900s” really solidified your description in my opinion. Although your descriptions of the individual dishes were fantastic, my one suggestion is that you could make your descriptions appeal to all of the senses; it would’ve been cool to read about how the food smelled. Good job, Edwin!

  2. Hi Edwin, great job on your poster! I liked the formatting and color choice. I also really enjoyed reading your intro…because it is pretty relatable to some of us. Nice use of descriptive words… it really matches with the pictures. But after reading your review, in the intro, you said that the food wasn’t on the pricy side. I calculated that you spend $311 on 4 dishes and the dishes you ordered weren’t worth the price…but hopefully, the interior makes up for it. Good job!

  3. This restaurant review is not only informative and helpful but also quite engaging! I’ve been to this restaurant myself and can approve that this is accurate. I enjoyed the attention-grabbing introduction in particular, which also made for a wonderful transition into the rest of the piece. I liked the rich vocabulary you used within the piece: “jazzing up the already flavorsome coating”. Still, it would be great if you listed the prices in the picture captions to make it easier to read. Overall, a fantastic piece.
