The Quality of Mercy (Flipgrid Assignment)

Reflection:

The overall experience of presenting my thoughts through artwork was pleasant and relaxing. As much as I appreciate the opportunity to write in College Writing, being allowed to represent my learning through art was refreshing. The brainstorming of what to create was almost effortless as I was covered in ideas upon the announcement of the project. After selecting an idea, I proceeded to search for templates to better help me visualize the appearance of my art piece. Then I started to draw, which was surprisingly therapeutic. The final step was to summarize how I wanted to connect aspects of my art to The Merchant of Venice and the quality of mercy. I jotted down relevant quotes on the final piece, explained these quotes on Flipgrid, and viola! My final product.

  1. I saw that every part of the symbol that you draw symbolizes every single significant idea in the Merchant of Venice storyline. While I heard your explanation, “When a king judges with both justice and mercy, he is most like a God”, I think that this summarized the whole main idea about mercy in this context. After hearing this phrase, I was able to clearly understand the main idea behind mercy and how you created this poster.

  2. Good job on the poster and your explanation! I really liked the way you described how the quality of mercy was important during the merchant of Venice. This was a very interesting analysis you presented. Your explanation was concise but informative to the listeners. After hearing this, I was able to understand the deeper meaning of the merchant of Venice. The quotes that you put on your poster also helped me understand your poster. Keep up the good work, Edwin!
